Can you share a bit about your background and what inspired you to pursue a career in art?

I grew up near New Orleans and now live in Mississippi with my husband and many animals. I decided to pursue a career in art because I’m the happiest when creating.

What drew you to the style of art you are creating and how would you define it in your own words?

I draw my inspiration from nature, bright colors, my love for animals, and the rich culture of the south. I would describe my style as carefree and happy. I make my daydreams come true through paint.

Can you describe your creative process? How do you approach a new project from concept to completion?

I drink a lot of coffee then head to my studio which is about 10 minutes from my house. I usually paint what’s on my mind and then add a lot of flowers. I start with a colorful background then paint my subject matter in white. I then start filling in the white space with patterns and color. The last step is shading and highlighting.

Who or what are your biggest influences in art and/or design?

I’m most influenced by my environment.
